11154675_10153321048312193_2133051412519704137_oWe are Charlie and Paula Krueger. We are high school sweethearts working to achieve the balanced life by Working Less and Living More. We met in 1992 on the football field of our high school right before going out to play the National Anthem for the game. We dated on and off through high school, marched drum and bugle corps and then moved to Florida.

After the death of Paula’s mom in 2000, we finally got serious about planning a wedding. While living in Florida we planned our wedding in Chicago to make it easier for family and friends to attend. We were married on April 26, 2002. We were excited to start our family and found ourselves pregnant on our first wedding anniversary. Unfortunately we lost that baby at 12 weeks. Our first son, Gabriel, was born on May 5, 2005. Two years later, our first girl, Cadence, was born on May 11, 2007. Unfortunately, right after her birth Charlie’s Grandfather passed away. While in Chicago for the funeral we decided it was time to move home to be closer to and connect with the family.

The family was expanding, not just with our kids, but with cousins as well and we decided that being near family was what was important to us. So when Cadence was 3 months old we made the leap to move back home. Our second boy, David, was born January 18, 2009. In May 2010 we finally bought our first home. We were lucky to be settling in time for Gabriel to start school. Our second daughter, Quinn came along January 24, 2014. In the summer of 2014 we decided we were going to pull the kids out of school for many reasons, which we will get into later. In the fall of 2014 we started homeschooling a 4th and 2nd grader and Kindergartner. We have been loving watching the kids grow over the past school year and love homeschooling! We feel like it’s helping to set us up for the life we want with the kids.

[Update] – We are expecting our fifth child on December 18, 2015 (It’s a boy!). More to come on that.

Over all the years we have had so many different business experiences. Paula started off her path working as an executive assistant by getting a job in high school as a secretary for a printing company. Over the years she worked with Frito Lay, a home builder, pool builder, flooring company, and many other places before coming home to be with her kids. In 2009 she started her blog Frosted Fingers where she shares kid friendly recipes, product reviews, family life and about homeschooling.

Charlie has always risen to a high level wherever he has worked. He always puts himself in the position to help someone else and make positive changes in the work environment. He quickly becomes an adviser to those above him. He has worked for companies such as Ryder Logistics, Hewlett Packard, NCR, and currently AVI-SPL. He is a project manager that works his tail off for his clients.

That was just a sliver of what our life experience has been. Even with all of this plus all of the extra curricular activities not even mentioned, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, church activities, travel baseball and much more, there is a way to have a balance to fit it all in and sanely enjoy life in the process.

Our goal is to help mom and dads, husbands and wives find balance in their lives in order to Work Less and Live More.
