We are Charlie and Paula Krueger. We are high school sweethearts working to achieve the balanced life by Working Less and Living More. We met in 1992 on the football field of our high school right before going out to play the National Anthem for the game. We dated on and off through high school, marched drum and bugle corps together and then moved to Florida.
After the death of Paula’s mom in 2000, we finally got serious about planning a wedding. While still living in Florida, we married in Chicago on April 26, 2002. We were excited to start our family and found ourselves pregnant on our first wedding anniversary. Unfortunately we lost that baby at 12 weeks right around June of 2003. With this being our first pregnancy, it was pretty devastating. Still today, the pain lives with us but didn’t keep us from trying again.
Our first son, Gabriel, was born on May 5, 2005. Two years later, our first girl, Cadence, was born on May 11, 2007. Immediately after Cadence was born Charlie’s grandfather passed away providing a new calling to return home to Chicago where we can all be with family again.
The family was expanding, not just with our kids, but with cousins as well and we decided that being near family was what was important to us. So when Cadence was 3 months old we made the leap to move back home. Our second boy, David, was born January 18, 2009. In May 2010 we finally bought our first home. We were lucky to be settling in time for Gabriel to start school. Our second daughter, Quinn came along January 24, 2014.
In the summer of 2014, after considering it for a number of years, we decided we were going to pull the kids out of school to have Paula home school our children. In the fall of 2014 we started homeschooling a 4th and 2nd grader as well as a Kindergartner.
Then the kids kept coming. With a couple more miscarriages in-between, we had 3 more boys. Joseph was born on December 11th, 2015. Simon was born on June 11th 2019. Finally Stephen was born April 29th, 2021. That makes us a family of 9 with 7 children.
We have enjoyed watching the kids grow over the past years and love homeschooling! Homeschooling has not only allowed us to provide a high quality custom education for our children, but it has provided the freedom to do more as a family. More traveling, more activities, more experiences together having a deeper and more intimate family existence.
With Charlie’s parents now the grandparents of 21 grandchildren between our family and Charlie’s siblings, family events, no matter how insignificant, are always a party.
Over all the years we have had so many different business experiences. Paula started off her path working as an executive assistant. This began in high school working as a secretary for a printing company. Over the years she worked with multiple well known brands, many in which you would surely recognize. Paula has a special talent for organizing and task managing. Along with her computer office application skills, Paula became a sought after asset with many companies through the years. Paula transitioned to working from home before leaving the corporate world to focus on her family and her own talents and interests. In 2009 she started her blog Frosted Fingers where she shares kid friendly recipes, product reviews, family life and about homeschooling. Through her blogging experiences, she has provided for numerous destination and event experiences for her family. Providing for her family financially as well as through experiences they would otherwise not likely have.
Charlie has always risen to a high level wherever he has worked. He always puts himself in the position to help someone else and make positive changes in the work environment. With less formal education than many but the ambition to compensate for it, Charlie finds opportunities to position himself to provide immediate value to companies and professionals. His value is swiftly realized through his proven results and he quickly becomes an adviser to those around him. He has worked with some of the top Forbes 500 companies in the world. With specialization in productivity, communications, and customer experience, Charlie successfully adds value and leaves a lasting positive impact with all he works with. His mission is to help provide others with great positive life experiences.
That was just a sliver of what our life experience has been and the activities in our lives. With all of that as well as other extra curricular activities such as scouting, church activities, kids activities, several volunteer positions, hobbies, personal health and fitness, and many various interests, there is a way to have balance to fit it all in and sanely enjoy life through the chaos.
After accumulating more responsibility and more people to coordinate through the years, whether it be with companies or with our own family, we are living a fuller and more balanced life than ever finding the time for what is most important to us.
Because Paula and Charlie have designed their own lives based on what is important to them and their family. They have been able to give their children a life many don’t ever see. This has provided them the opportunity to see different places and experience different things while all doing it together.
Our goal is to help mom and dads, husbands and wives find balance in their lives in order to Work Less on the meaningless and Live More life.
